Smart 911

Jill Loveland passed along a great website that I just finished filling in our details for.  Its called Smart 911.  Here’s the link: www.smart911.com

The idea behind it is that you can fill in all details of the members of your family, address, phone numbers associated with the address (including cell phones) so that if you can teach your child how to dial 911, they don’t even need to know your address…the 911 operator will already have it based on the phone number they call from.  The operator will also know who resides in the house (kids, pets, etc.) making rescue efforts (God forbid) easier for emergency personnel.  Or even if you call 911, and for whatever reason in a panic can’t even get out your address…it won’t matter.  If your calling from a registered phone on your profile…all your details will be there for the 911 operator taking the call.

Smart 911 is supported for 98075 & 98074 zip codes!!

Here’s a couple key things to remember:

  • You must log into Smart911 at least once every 6 months, and update your profile where appropriate (they send you a text message to remind you!).
  • Smart911 will deliver your information to 9-1-1 when you call 9-1-1 and the call is routed to a supported 9-1-1 center.
  • The list of supported 9-1-1 centers is constantly growing.
  • Smart911 allows you to store critical care and emergency rescue information with Smart911 in advance of any emergency. The information is collected on the Smart911 website. If you call 9-1-1 from a phone number registered and verified with Smart911 (by responding to a text message or automated call placed to that phone), and the 9-1-1 operator has Smart911 technology, then your Smart911 profile is automatically made available to the 9-1-1 operator taking your call.

Thank you Jill for passing along this critical technology!!
